Mamelodi Sundowns FC's preparations for the new season have been aligned to cater for the six competitions that they will play within the opening four months. The Brazilians will host Polokwane City on August 8 in the MTN8 quarterfinals, while their Carling KnockOut Cup matches are set for October 24/27. They will also play in the CAF Super Cup against Confederation Cup winners, USM Alger, on October 31, with a winners' cheque of USD500 000 (approx. R8,4 million) at stake. As champions of Africa, Sundowns will also play in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, starting against the winner of the Al Ahli Saudi FC/Auckland FC match for the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup on September 19. If they win that contest, they will play the FIFA Challenger Cup against the winners of the 2026 Copa Libertadores and 2026 CONCACAF Champions Cup (Deportivo Toluca FC) match. Then, they will contest the Intercontinental Cup final against UEFA Champions League holders, Paris Saint-Germain. The group stages of the CAF Champions League will start in November and run until January. Sundowns' pre-season planning has already been forced into changes after the death of Jayden Adams.
