Mamelodi Sundowns FC are finalising Kodisang’s exit after the winger was frozen out by Portuguese coach Miguel Cardoso for the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season. The 26-year-old attacker, who joined from Moreirense in July 2024, has not featured in Cardoso’s first-team picture this term.
What happened to Kobamelo Kodisang at Sundowns?
Kodisang arrived at Chloorkop on a five-year deal in July 2024, but his minutes dried up under Cardoso, who took charge five months later. By July 2025 he was shipped out on loan to Portugal’s AVS Futebol. That spell lasted weeks before Masandawana recalled him and sent him to Stellenbosch FC in January 2026.
The Cape Winelands loan ended in June when Stellenbosch opted against keeping him after his deal expired. Gavin Hunt, the Stellies boss, reshaped his squad and Kodisang returned to Chloorkop without a role.

With preparations for 2026/27 already under way, Cardoso’s squad is taking shape without Kodisang. Sources close to the player say that talks are ongoing between Kodisang’s representatives and Sundowns to find the best path forward.
A permanent move away from Chloorkop is now the preferred route, though another loan is still on the table. A decision is expected within days, with a return to Tshwane looking increasingly unlikely.
