Mamelodi Sundowns FC star completes transfer to Simba SC
Mamelodi Sundowns FC midfielder Neo Maema has completed his transfer to Simba SC, joining the Dar es Salaam-based club in a significant move. The 30-year-old attacking talent arrived in Dar es Salaam on Thursday to reunite with the Wekundu wa Msimbazi squad, marking his second stint with the club after previously impressing during a loan spell initiated under former manager Fadlu Davids.
What happened?
Speaking to the media ahead of the highly anticipated Simba Day celebrations, Simba SC coach Steve Barker revealed his satisfaction at seeing the deal finally cross the finish line. Barker welcomed Maema back to Simba SC, stating: "I was very pleased this morning to see Neo Maema on the bus. It was good to have him back in the squad," Barker told FARPost. "It took a while to get that concluded, but I’m happy that he’s with us,”
Why it matters for Mamelodi Sundowns FC
The transfer marks a significant loss for Mamelodi Sundowns FC, who will have to regroup and find a replacement for the experienced midfielder. Maema's departure is a blow to the South African club, who will have to adjust their tactics and strategy without one of their key players.
What comes next?
Simba SC is expected to play a pivotal role in the upcoming season, with Maema joining fellow South African compatriots Rushine De Reuck and Keletso Makgalwa in the squad. The club is currently finalising preparations for the new season, with the technical team focused on ensuring all new arrivals are up to speed.
