Former Mamelodi Sundowns centre back Rushine De Reuck has reflected on his successful five-year spell at the club, where he established himself as a key figure and won four league titles. The 30-year-old, now captain of Tanzanian giants Simba SC, spent the period from 2020 to 2025 at Chloorkop, becoming a fundamental component of the team's defence and earning a regular place in the senior national team set-up.

His journey at Sundowns was not without challenges, as injuries hampered his progress and ultimately cost him his place in the side. Seeking consistent playing time, De Reuck moved to Simba SC after a loan spell in Israel with Maccabi Petah Tikva. The switch to Tanzania has been a positive one, with the defender being handed the captain's armband and earning a contract extension with his new club.

During his time with Mamelodi Sundowns, De Reuck's contributions were recognised individually when he was named PSL Defender of the Season. His departure came as the club continues its era of dominance, a legacy he helped build.

That success continues unabated. Mamelodi Sundowns remain top of the Premier Soccer League, sitting first with 26 points from 10 games, having recorded eight wins and two draws. They are one point clear of Orlando Pirates and carry a three-game winning run into their next match. Their latest victory was a 1-0 win over Golden Arrows on Tuesday 3 November, secured by a 69th-minute goal from Iqraam Rayners, who is the team's top scorer this season with four goals. This followed a 4-1 victory over Durban City on Saturday 31 October, where Thabang Matuludi scored twice. The team's recent form of three wins and two draws from their last five matches has been built on a solid defence, conceding an average of just 0.6 goals per game over their last five matches, while scoring an average of 2.2 goals per game in that same period. Overall this season they have scored 27 goals and conceded only nine.

The club's next challenge is an away trip to face ninth-placed Kruger United on Saturday 28 November, as they look to maintain their slender lead at the summit. The full league table shows the tight nature of the title race. Following that, their schedule includes a home fixture against Cape Town City on 5 December.
