Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Marcelo Allende has confirmed that he is focused on his job at the club despite the uncertainty surrounding his contract. Allende is in his fifth and final year at Sundowns, having signed a three-plus-two deal when he joined from Uruguayan club Montevideo City Torque in July 2022.
With his contract running up in June next year, keeping him at Chloorkop will come with a heavy price, with options in Mexico and the MLS to be considered by his handlers.
"I’m focused on my last year here at the club, and I haven’t spoken to anyone (about the contract),” says Allende, who will also become eligible for permanent residence next season.
"I’m really focused. When I have to play, I will always give my 100%. If not, I will always support my teammates because that is important so that we bring good things to the club," says Allende.
Mamelodi Sundowns are currently 7th in the Premier Soccer League, 4 points behind leaders Orlando Pirates, with a recent form of DW.
